SEE SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS/2018
Performance, 18min. video, 18min.
Camera by Marta Hryniuk

See Something Suspicious explores gestures of vigilance and how they impact the way we physically inhabit, occupy space, and move in the world. The performance collects choreographies and behaviours that portray an atmosphere of suspicion both in the private and public space. The performance depicts the transition from being suspicious to being suspicious through movement - in the form of a slope - from the centre to the edges of a city. The performance is based on advice articles, neighbourhood watch literature, news reports on Eastern European immigration, social public campaigns, and social media. The title of the performance comes from the "See Something, Say Something" campaign, which asks citizens to be vigilant and report suspicious activity.
